This year I am thankful for…

There is alot in a busy year. A lot of moving, of lot missing the moment or soaking in the details, of wishing for the slower times. They will come, and I will enjoy them. But this year I am especially thankful for some of the bigger players in my life and what they allow me to do.

  1. Civic Engagement is an important part of getting things done. I am grateful for the Village of Belleville and for the residents who took the steps to get the Belleville Depot on the National Register of Historic Buildings in 2016 and to all those who participated in the conversation about what should happen next. Without all of these things, we wouldn't be doing what we love today.

  2. Friends, old and new. The best part of any project is the people. I was taught long ago that work is better with friends, so make friends with those you work with. And we have a great team.

  3. My Mom always said that you have to find a way to use what you can do to give back to the world. In the midst of raising my own kids, I learned how powerful a fun place to take your whole family can truly be. A place that is interesting to everyone, babies through to grandparents. For this middle generation, that is huge. And that is what we are creating - a place for families. I am grateful for my mom, and her influence to do what I can do, to give back to the world. Reviving this building for kids and families is what I can do.

  4. My husband, Peter, is my greatest supporter and continuous reality check, my ultimate partner and built in red team. My sounding board and dedicated agent on any given topic. I am so grateful that we are in it together. (grateful for the little rascals we get to raise together, and how wonderful they are.)

  5. The ability to work and spend your time doing what you love to do is a gift above all else. It is a privilege to lead a project like The Yards at Belleville Depot, and I do not take it for granted.
