Belleville goes all in for Vibrant Spaces
Belleville is growing, there is no doubt about. At the seat of Dane County, the fastest growing county in Wisconsin, Belleville is perfectly positioned to attract young families and newly empty nesters as it scratches the itch to get some space and be closer to nature, all while a short 35 min drive (or 20 mile bike ride!) away from Downtown Madison. With a growing Main Street, strong schools and investment in civic growth, Belleville is poised to fill the need that our county is seeing.
The Yards Team works closely with the Village every week to align our projects and ensure that we are moving towards the same goal. Public and Private Partnerships like this one are a strong model of how developers can coordinate with the Villages goals and be part of their bigger picture. When both parties are putting there dollars to work, the resources can be stretched further and we can get more done. The Village has many standards in place to preserve the charm and distinct nature of Downtown Main Street and the area around it, while also investing in new developments that serve and support the historic.
Belleville is one of 27 Wisconsin communities that received a Vibrant Spaces Grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC). More than $1.1 million in grant funds were awarded last month.
Belleville will use its $50,000 grant funds to transform a key community hub where the village’s major park meets the downtown area into a courtyard and promenade.
“We are actively working to beautify Belleville, and the Vibrant Spaces Project is a key part of that vision,” said Gabe Altenbernd, Belleville village administrator. “With exciting new businesses opening downtown and a comprehensive park master plan underway, this project allows us to unite these major developments at a central point where the village’s core comes together.”
