Catherine Howley

Building Owner & Project Lead

Catherine brings to The Yards at Belleville Depot nearly 20 years experience at the intersection of civic purpose, historic preservation, and institutional design. Her work has centered on complex, community-anchored projects—places with legacy, great constraint, and meaning—where revitalization requires both technical rigor and experienced, brave imagination.

Before returning to the midwest in 2021, Catherine served as project lead on the multi-phase renovation of San Mateo County Medical Center with Taylor Design, guiding coordination between design teams, contractors, and the intricate realities of an active hospital. In earlier chapters of her career she learned working through design and construction for the rehabilitation of early 1900s former Army buildings within The Presidio of San Francisco under the stewardship of the National Park Service, and led accessibility upgrades and stakeholder engagement efforts for the historic Bayview Opera House in partnership with the City of San Francisco.

Now, for the first time, she occupies the owner’s seat. It is a role that suits her. Catherine approaches development not as a transaction, but as stewardship—assembling teams marked by creativity, integrity, and shared belief in the love of the work. She is at her best when aligning architects, contractors, municipal partners, and neighbors around a common vision: to restore places of history and return them to public life with purpose.
